It’s great when we get the chance to see couples again after the wedding and every so often that happens sooner than normal, this weekend we shot Julia and Dave’s wedding in York where we saw Scott and Vicki in the evening, it was lovely to hear about their incredible honeymoon and we were both really pleased to have a quick catch up. We promised Vicki we’d get a preview up today so we’ve been working hard to make sure we can!
When we met Vicki and Scott a few months back we both felt like they were just the kind of couple we love to shoot for. Neither of them enjoy having their photo taken and – like many others – found the whole prospect of two photographers following their day a little daunting. For us one of the most rewarding things about our job is showing couples how great they looked on their wedding day without having to pose and feel awkward. In a week of showers we were lucky enough to have great weather throughout (With the exception of a small shower before the wedding breakfast) and Vicki’s awesome short dress looked fantastic. The Papakata Tipi’s fitted in perfectly at Vicki’s sister’s house which was an incredible venue for the day, the ceremony was held at the beautiful St Olaves church in York.
Mario and Vivian Syracuse wedding was a family party perfect, this was a really nice wedding. The ceremony in the Cathedral of Syracuse incorporating what was a temple dedicated to Athena (Minerva), The reception was Azienda Agricola Pupillo located a few kilometers from the archaeological park. Syracuse is a picture-postcard come to life with its old churches, quaint cobbled streets and pristine beaches of Ortigia, this beautiful resort that captures the essence of Sicily. This place is a dream wedding photographers, can not wait to return.
We first met Caroline and Scott back in March at Salford Lads Club for their Smith’s inspired shoot, since then we’ve both been looking forward to this unique Victoria Baths wedding. In Caroline’s first email to us she told us about their venue and even then we felt like it fitted their style perfectly. We knew how the Baths looked on its own but seeing it on the day, decorated beautifully and filled with guests who looked like they had come straight out of a vintage film, really took our breath away.
Caroline and Scott both love he 60’s Mod style and their wedding wasn’t about to buck this trend, from the incredible venue – itself a real treasure of the past, not quite restored to its former glory but enough so that it looks like a stunning piece of history without looking like a modern reproduction – to the energetic Northern Soul dancing everything felt in keeping with the theme. The venue had such amazing spots for couple shots – especially some very vintage looking wallpaper – that we were spoilt for choice!
One thing we love about our style of photography is that we seem to get a fantastically diverse range of weddings, from Churches to Tipi’s, Barns to Country houses it would be easy to try to claim we’ve seen it all. The truth is weddings now are more individual than they have ever been and we are constantly amazed by the extent of our couples imagination and individuality. Caroline and Scott are the perfect example of this and we feel proud to have captured their day.
