Cheltenham Weddings – Love in The Cotswolds

Cheltenham is a delightful town nestling in the heart of Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds and is defined by its Regency architecture, rolling hills and of course its world famous racecourse.

It also has some gorgeous wedding venues too, all differing in theme but equally compelling to photograph. Last year, I was lucky enough to shoot at a number of these, including Pitville Park, Elmore Court and The Manor By the Lake and rather than blog each individually, I’ve put together a selection of shots from these locations as well as two or three others to give you a flavour of why so many couples choose the beauty of the Cotswolds as the backdrop to their wedding.

Wedding in Sifnos

Sifnos, which is rightly called the gem of the Cyclades, may not be one of the most famous Greek islands but it is one of my favorite summer destinations. It is always a pleasure to stroll the narrow cobblestone streets of the picturesque villages under the dazzling sunlight and rediscover the beauty of the golden beaches and the emerald waters of this unspoiled little paradise that have more churches than any other island in the Cyclades: 360, almost one for each day of the year. And the pleasure is even greater when I have the chance to be near such amazing people as James and Lina. The memory of the three fabulous days I spent with them, and their guests as their wedding photographer will remain in my heart forever.

The pre-wedding parties, with lots of music and dancing, put everybody into the right mood for enjoying and celebrating the big day. The beautiful religious ceremony took place in a little-whitewashed chapel overlooking the Aegean blue. The bride was stunning in her refreshingly simple white lace wedding dress, and the bridegroom was evidently moved. They both looked radiantly happy when they posed for their first pictures as a married couple after the traditional rain of rice… And there was more music and dancing among the trees and under the stars at the reception, where we all had the chance to congratulate the lovely couple and wish them a lifetime of happiness and love. Dear Lina and James, may your years together be full of sunshine, like your wonderful wedding day!

Outdoor Wedding at Trasimeno Lake

This was a very elegant and original wedding in one of the most beautiful locations in Umbria. I love the the Trasimeno lake, and I was excited to shoot this wedding around it.

We started at Castiglione del Lago for the Bride and Groom getting ready and then we took a water taxi to reach the Isola Maggiore for the ceremony and the dinner.

The ceremony was celebrated on one of the ancient docs of the island, and the dinner was served in one of the most famous restaurants of the Lake: L’Oso restaurant.

The cutting of the cake was done at the Darsena, again at Castiglione del Lago after some minutes of sail.

I enjoyed shooting this wedding! 🙂

Wedding in Fiji

The Chinese couple came to Fiji to escape the cold winter and enjoy the white sand Fijian beaches. They had a traditional Fijian wedding ceremony at the stunning Paradise Cove Island Resort in the Yasawas island. The bride got carried by four Fijian warriors to her husband while the choir was singing. They also had a taste for adventure and parasailed to the Sheraton beach in Denerau.

Wedding Photography – Chic Boho Destination in Sayulita

For those who don’t know Sayulita, it is a magic town on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. It is also the perfect location to spend some relaxing time on the beach, surf the waves, enjoy mexican gastronomy and of course, to get married.

When it comes to getting married in Sayulita, you can’t go wrong with Luz Ochoa of Sayulita Weddings. Every time I have worked with her on a wedding, she succeeded to amaze me with her creativity and her team professionalism.
And this occasion wasn’t exception! The day started off with a perfectly cloudless sky and a bright sun that remained during all the event. Roy & Emily’s chose Sayulita as their paradise to get married, and they couldn’t be happier about their choice.

For the photography, I chose to limit the use of flashes and keep the most natural light as possible in my compositions. I also took the particular decision to leave the 85mm on the side and to fully enjoy my tilt-shift 45mm. For those who know that lens, it may sound crazy as this is a very difficult lens to master in motion scenes, but in the end, I feel like I made the right choice when looking back at my shots. It brought some depth of field to all my pictures.
